How many times did you ever search for any string with "telugu" in it in Google? Here's the Telugu University's efforts to ensure that some day people do not need to search for just "telugu".
The Potti Sriramulu Telugu University has announced the Sahitee Puraskarams for the best books in Telugu literature for the year 2005. University Vice-Chancellor Dr A Manjulatha has announced the awards, which will be presented to the writers on 16th March at the university campus:
Nir-vachanam (poetry free verse) by Ghantasala Nirmala
Vedika (verse poetry) by Rasaraju
Relapootalu (lyrical poetry) by Goranti Venkanna
Paalamanasulu (children's literature) by Malayasri
Pakshi (short story) by V Pratima
Kalamegham (novel) by K Ramachandra Murthy
Vyasa Gowthami (literary criticism) by B Rama Brahmam
Amarajeevi (play) by Vadrevu Sundar Rau
Tilak's The Night That Rained Nectar (translation) by V Kondal Rao
Sreehari Nighantuvu (others category) by Rawa Sreehari
Palikinchaku Mouna Mridangalanu (best book among women writers) by Volga
In the other awards category, M Sujata Reddy won the Best Women Writer award, K A Singaracharyulu won the Best Sanskrit Scholar award, and Yusuf Sarmast, the Best Urdu Scholar award. Each award carries a cash prize of Rs. 20,116 and a citation.
