The newspapers regularly feature only things found under rocks on their front pages, but there is a lot to the rocks themselves. Here's a snapshot.
The Alliance Francaise of Hyderabad, in association with the Society To Save Rocks and the State Art Gallery, is organising any exhibition of photographs titled Rockscapes Of Hyderabad, by Dr Satyaprakash, at Chitramayee - State Gallery of Fine Art, from 15th to 22nd November.
This exhibition of rocks & rock formations is intended to draw the viewers' attention to the amazing rock formations in and around Hyderabad. These formations are interesting in the first place because they look like various living and inanimate objects we are acquainted with in our visual culture. Besides looking at these formations as interesting perceptions of the human eye, the exhibits also try to reflect how these rockscapes are blended into the geography, history, political, social and religious life of their habitats. Human interaction with these natural formations is sometimes violent, sometimes thought-provoking, and sometimes downright funny.
After a Masters in Communication from the University of Hyderabad, Dr Satyaprakash obtained a PhD from Osmania University, Hyderabad. He worked with ETV News, and later with TMG Enter Television, Bangalore, as Producer - News and Supervising Producer - Current Affairs.
He served as Communication & Documentation Officer for CARE, an international voluntary organisation, after working in the television industry for four years. He then joined the University of Hyderabad's Communication Faculty in 2003, and now teaches Television Production Basics, TV News Production, documentary-filmmaking and Media Management.
The exhibition will be inaugurated on 15th November at 5:30PM by M Narendra Luther, President of the Society to Save Rocks.
