In case you haven't pieced it together yet, this is a week dedicated to the rock aficionados of town. And they've saved the best for last!
On the occasion of the launch of the new sporty Honda Unicorn, the company is organising a nite of rock and fashion, at the Sanjeevaiah Park, this Sunday. The party will have electrifying rock numbers by Mumbai-based rock band Vayu, a fashion show choreographed by Imran Khan featuring models from Hyderabad, and an entertaining jig by Radio City's Anuj.
Vayu was formed in 1997 by Ravi Iyer. It is strongly influenced by Deep Purple, Rainbow, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and Rush amongst other legendary bands of yesteryears.
Vayu plays varied forms of music like fusion, rock, jazz, blues and even a bit of grunge/alternative. Manned by 4 dexterous musicians, the band acquired a huge fan following with regular performances in the Bombay/Pune club circuit, and in a short span of period, has catapulted to being India's numero uno.
The architects of this highly-successful band are Ravi Ramaswami Iyer who plays the guitar and is also the founder of the band; 2Blue, aka Tirthankar Poddar, on the lead vocals; Schubert Cuthbert Pierre D'Souza, a bass 'n' keys player; and Aatur Soni, the young drummer.
Imran Khan is city-based fashion choreographer. He is the main architect of many Hyderabadi models who have made a mark at the national fashion circuit. He trains selected models at his Imran Khan's Gym at Srinagar Colony. His wife Mahanoor Khan is a renowned fashion designer.
