A quest for free power, to light your bulbs if not minds!
CII - Sohrabji Godrej Green Business Centre is organising a Power Plant Summit 2005, at the ITC Kakatiya Shereton. The motto of this summit is to make the Indian power plants achieve world ranking. A total of 150 delegates from all over the world are expected to attend this summit.
Over the last 50 years, India has achieved tremendous growth in its power sector. The Plant Load Factor (PLF) of power plants, on an average, has increased from 45% to 75%. Few Indian power plants are running at 100% PLF.
In the current demand scenario, and the context of providing universal access to affordable power, there is a need for other power plants in India to achieve such world class standards. The main objective of this summit is to discuss the necessary steps required to acheive this target. This summit also aims at encouraging the power sector to provide reliable, affordable and environment friendly power on a sustainable basis.
CII has formed a working group comprising of the senior representatives from the Indian power sector. Various activities taken up by these representatives include collation of data, plant visits, and analyzing and developing a best-practices manual. They have also visited many different world class power plants in countries including UK, USA, Japan, Canada, and Australia. They will be presenting their reports during the summit.
The chief guest of this summit is P Ramakanth Reddy, IAS, Principal Secretary of Finance, Govt. of Andhra Pradesh. The other delegates include: P K Basu, Chairman of Working Group On World Class Power Plants; Anil Kumar V Epur, ex-Chairman of CII - Southern Region; and M K Patodia, Chairman of CII - Andhra Pradesh.
