Shekhar Dattatri is a veteran, he's been at the job for over 25 years now, starting off his life of a jungle explorer when he was 15. Naturally he is a multi-award winning film-maker today with National Awards of India, Special Jury Awards of Italy. Citta De Sondrio Award Of Italy and Earthvision Festival Award under his belt.
For the 52 min. film Nagarhole - Tales From An Indian Jungle, that is being screened today, he has received the Special Jury Award in International Wildlife Film Festival, Montana, U S A, 1998 and Sondrio International festival on Parks & Protected Areas in 1998, Arlette Vincent Prize in Valvert International Wildlife film Festival, Brussels in 1999.
Nagarhole captures the panorama of seasons of an year in the forest. The coming alive with monsoon and the withering away with the dehydrating heat of summer. Shekhar also brings in human threats to the forest like illegal encroachment and coffee plantations along elephant migratory paths. You can get an idea of what a brilliant film it's going to be from the price of screening for members and non members - Rs.600 and Rs. 1000 respectively. Erm.
