A folk-dancer transforms into a magician - is it vodoo, or simply the charm of Asha Srilata? Find out tonite.
The Delhi Telugu Academy is organizing a program which will have 12 record holders of the Limca Book Of Records, performing under one roof. These 12 artist hold records in different categories like mimikry, mime, folk-singing, dance and magic. There will be a total of 100 minutes of compering, coupled with some amazing performances.
The anchor for the night will be Asha Srilata. She started her career in 1995, and has won many awards, like the Madhura Vyakhyana Saraswati in 1997, and the Best Anchor Of The Year in 1998. She has done compering for many Telugu shows across the country. Asha is a BA in English, and is working as a Senior Accountant in the Directorate Of Postal Accounts. She is also a Bharatnatyam and Kuchipudi dancer.
In this program she will introduce each participant in 3 minutes, followed by a seven-minute performance by the artist. During these seven-minutes Asha will be changing her costume and make-up to match the next program. For example, for a person performing folk dance, she will get dressed like a villager while she will attire herself as a magician for the inroduction of the magic show.
The specialists who will perform today are:
Mimikry: V Harikishan, who is known for mimiking 100 different tones in 1 hour. He has been awarded the title of Satakantha Dhvanyanukarana Samrat
Parody: M Guruswamy, who has a record for singing 100 parodies in 1 hour
Backtalk: Mime Madhu, who holds the record for 20 mime items in 1 hour
Classical Dance: Srivasanthi, who has performed 100 different types of dances in 100 minutes. She was awarded Sata Karana Tarangini at the age of 7 years
Magic: Ali, who can perform, blindfolded, 100 magic tricks in 1 hour.
Folk Dance: Challa Sneha, who holds the record for dances on 100 national songs in 1 hour, at the age of 10 years.
Dance: V Pradeepthi who has a record for singing 112 songs continuously for 12 hours, on the 12th day of the 12th month, at the age of 12 years.
Mime: Kaladhar, who can execute different face expressions, 24 hours non-stop, and has also performed 100 mime items in 1 hour
Duets: L Venkateswarlu, known for singing 100 duets in 1 hour
Folk Songs: Aruna Subbarao, who is a record-holder for 100 different language folk songs in 100 minutes
Musicry: B Harikrishna, who can imitate movie playback music.
Magic: Sarojaram, who holds the record for performing 30 magic tricks in 30 minutes, at the age of 7 years.
The chief guest on the occasion will be Dadasaheb Phalke awardee, Padmabhushan Dr Akkineni Nageswara Rao. The program will be presided by Sanskrutika Mitra and Justice C Y Somayujulu, while the felicitation of artistes will be done by Lalithakala Bandhu and Justice J Eswara Prasad.
Special guests for the night will be Dr Kaikala Satyanarayana, Dr Gummadi Venkateswara Rao, Golden Raju, Agriculturist, and Sevachakra awardee Devaraju Ravi. The guest of honour will be Hasyavadhani, Hasyabrahma Sankara Narayana
