If you want to start your new year by watching a whole host of politicians, then this is just the place. The government's celebrations of Ugadi always start at the Ravindra Bharathi, are organized by the Department of Culture, and are attended by a whole host of politicians. And so it is going to be this year.
The Department Of Culture is celebrating the Telugu New Year amidst traditional programs. Chief Minister Chandra Babu Naidu will inaugurate the function at 9am. The celebrations will start with the Panchanga Shravanam (predictions for the coming year) followed by a Kavi Sammelanam (poets' congregation), felicitation to vedic scholars and special awards presentation to renowned people from the fields of art, dance, folk, music, painting, sculpture, etc.
Vyavasaya Panchangam (harvest predictions for year 2001-2002) will then take place, followed finally by music and dance emphasizing the importance of the festival.
Like we said, a good number of people from the political circle are expected to participate in this event. Please contact Appa Rao at 323-3672 for further details.
