For all those who are in the mood for tradition, art and handicraft, not to mention particularly rich, here's where you can blow it all. You can get rid of Rs. 35,000 in one shot, without having to take back much more than a sari.
The A P Handicrafts Development Corporation is organizing a 'Maharashtra Crafts Exhibition' where Paithani saris of Maharastra, paintings by the Warli tribe, traditionally crafted musical instruments, terracotta pottery and embroidery etc., will be on display.
Like Pochampalli, Paithan is a village, located about 40km from Aurangabad, that has become famous all over the world for its beautiful Paithani saris.
Paithani saris with prices ranging from Rs. 5,000 to Rs. 35,000 are available for sale here. At one of the stalls here, an artist from Pune will put on display figures of gods and goddesses that she creates from different material. Apart from the above, Banjara craft from Jalgaon, Yeotmal and Nanded, and bamboo articles from Vidharbha will also be on display.
The exhibition will be on for 9-days. Please contact 475-0670 for further details.
