Not all sport stars are busy raking in the moolah endorsing soft drinks and chips. Some indeed want to make the Indian sporting scene a better place.
The Pullela Gopichand Badminton Foundation, founded by ace badminton player Pullela Gopichand, is hosting "Let's Shuttle", a corporate badminton tournament, aimed at raising funds for potential badminton players who cannot afford to bear the costs of learning the game. The academy is situated at Gachibowli, and the tournament is on from 17th September to 19th September.
The event will involve 32 corporate houses represented by 15 players each, and is supported by industrial organizations like TiE, CII, ITsAP and AMCHAM. Celebrity exhibition matches and eminent names from sports, movies and politics will add to the glamour quotient of the tournament.
The tournament will start on 17th September, with corporate matches, and a Talent Hunt - by Pullela Gopichand and Saina Nehwal - to identify young talent across various schools and colleges.
Corporate matches will continue on 18th September, and the tournament will conclude with corporate and celebrity exhibition matches on 19th September.
