In Saint-Denis in the north of Paris, hidden between the highway and the public housing complexes, there remain some 200 workers' gardens, of which there were 1,400 not long ago. This film meditates on this endangered tradition of working-class culture. As these gardeners are lovingly hunched over a small plot of land, we are privy to their small pleasures and their reprieve from the hardships of daily life.
