Dr. Vattikota Yadagiri Acharya is giving a record-breaking performance from 25th Nov to 29th Nov. Organised by Bhavanalaya, the event will commence at 10am.
Yadagiri, a renowed Kuchipudi dancer, is atempting to set a record by performing the Kuchipudi dance for 108 hours. Earlier, in August, he entered the Limca Book of Records by performing continuously for 10 hours, on 108 Annamacharya Kritis. This time, his target is to perform for 108 hours, on 1008 Annamacharya kritis. He will be supported by his students, who will keep on changing during the course of his performance. The performance, which was started on 25th, will end on 29th.
Dr. Vattikota Yadagiri Acharaya is a homoeopathy doctor who has dedicated his life towards Kuchipudi. He learnt from various gurus, including Manjulatha, Uma Rama Rao, Bhagavatula Sethuram, Chinta Adinarayana and Acharya Bhashyam. Once, along with his 18 students, he trekked the Tirumala Hills by dancing to the 108 famous devotional compositions of the famous saint poet Annamacharya. The marathon dancing exercise, spread over 6 hours, enthralled the devotees trekking the Tirumala Hills.
Bhavanalaya, a Kuchipudi dance institute, was established by Dr. Vattikota Yadagiri Acharya in 1990. Intially started with 3 students, it grew into an institute with 200 students, who have given more than 200 programs, in over 1,500 temples, across the country.
