On the occasion of its 26th anniversary, Sri Satyam Kuchipudi Nritya Niketan is presenting a Kuchipudi dance recital by the students of the institution, on 28th December, at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha. 17 dancers will participate in this recital, namely Baby Amulya, Baby Jai Sravani, Saisri, Divya, Sravanthi, D Satyavathi, Tejaswini, Revathi Reddy, Sruthika, Shweta, D Krishna Kumari, Saraswati, Chandana, Jaswini, Varshini and Vedamitra.
The recital starts with a Naandi Stuthi, followed by Pooja Nrityam, Vinayaka Koutvam, Jatiswaram, Annamayya's Adigo Alladigo and Itadu Okkade Sarweswarudu, Sadashiva Brahmendra's Manasa Sancharare, and a Tillana in Hindola ragam. The nattuvangam and vocal for the recital will be provided by D V Satyanarayana and Mantha Srinivas respectively, with mridangam by Sridharacharya, flute by Ram Mohan and violin by K Anil Kumar.
Sri Satyam Kuchipudi Nritya Niketan was established by D V Satyanarayana (Satya Kumar) in 1981, at Ramnagar. Kuchipudi and Carnatic vocal are taught at the institute. Currently the institute has about 50 students learning in different batches.
Satyanarayana is a disciple of late Yeleswarapu Surya Prakash and Vempati Chinnasatyam, and did his diploma in Kuchipudi dance from Sri Thyagaraja Govt. College of Music & Dance, Ramkote, in 1977-79. The students of the institute have performed at Hyderabad, Mumbai, Delhi, Nagpur, Bangalore and Ohio (USA).
