Kavi Sammelan By Sugandha Sahitya Saurabhalu

Artist and poet meets are notorious for their abstruse, and sometimes nonsensical prologues about the works on display. The Sugandha Sahitya Saurabhulu shakes off all those boring traditions and simply gets the poet to the stage with a functioning mike and an eager audience.

The brain behind this event is Smt. Suvarna Rani Gandham, a poet herself and a retd. IAS officer to boot. She currently works for an MNC in Hyderabad and promotes poetic talent through unique events like this. Her own collection of poems is titled Manasu Medhasu.

This year, 25 poets will be filtered out of all the applicants and will be asked to present their poetry (a brief version) at the Kavi Sammelan in Potti Sriramulu Telugu University at 1730 hrs.

All the guests (around 300 are expected) and the poets will be served Ugadi Pachadi and will appear wearing  sampradaya dustulu , or traditional Andhra attire. If you want to join in, remember to lay out an ironed sari or pancha the night before.
