With Ugadi begins the Vasanta Navratri, the spring festival ushering in the most beautiful season of the year. Global warming, climate changes and deforestation might have assured the Vasanta season is not quite the same anymore, but celebrations are celebrations and traditions never die.
Shilparamam hosts a bunch of cultural programs with the Vasanta theme on the 30th of March. At 1930 hrs is Vasanta Raagam, a lalita geetalu or light music concert by SS Music Academy. 4 students in the 17-20 years age-group will sing songs, while G V Prabhakar, the director of the institute will explain the meanings of the lyrics and recite poetry and anecdotes at the same time.
Vasanta Sangeeta Vibhavari consists of cine songs and light bhava songs. Folk dances by villagers from Nalgonda will also be presented. Finally, the Vasanta Lakshmi, a Kuchipudi dance ballet along the theme of Devi worship which is the norm during the Vasanta Navratri, will be presented by the SS Academy students.
