50 established poets of Hyderabad unite in their ire against the rapid proselytization of the Telugu people to the English language and culture, by demands from a globalising world. English has infiltrated into our most intimate lives, so much so that children are taught how to say 'mummy' before they even know the word 'amma' exists. And so the poem -
'Telugu Bhaasha Kammatanam Telusuko
Telusukuni Telugu Bhaasha Nerchuko
Mummy Daddy Vaddu
Amma Naane Muddu'
Poets such as Jwalamukhi, Himajwala, Dasaratha and Venkatesh have their own golden nuggets to offer this gathering organised by Praja Natya Mandali, so be there for an entertaining insight into the beauty of Telugu language and its current status in our lives.
