Most of our city's music bands worship at the altar of rock and heavy metal, while bands like Dark Star Revival (where are they hiding, anyway?) are left to play the blues and other golden oldies. Well, DSR now has company. The Charminar Jazz Collective is launching off on a 2-month stint at F9, where they will play every Friday night.
Expect at one of their performances jazz, in all its moods, from the groove-based Funk and Latin to the more sophisticated sounds of Swing and Behop. The Collective is, in its own words, committed to improvisation so its music stays relevant to an increasing and diverse audience. CJC features Max Haan on the saxophone, clarinet and percussion, Aman Mahajan on the electric piano/keyboards, Karthik Kalyan on the drums, Sam Christopher on the bass guitar, and Arjun Chandran on the guitar. This is the band's first ever public performance in the city, after they were founded earlier this year.
Fusion 9 will complete the evening with some adequately soulful drink and food. So kick back and let the music in.
Please contact Fusion 9 at 5557-7755, 5557-7722 for reservations and further details.
