Senior artist K Laxma Goud is organising an exhibition of graphic prints from 2nd to 20th February, at Gallery Space, Road No. 12, Banjara Hills. Goud is exhibiting 30 of his recent works at the exhibition.
Most of Laxma Goud's works are intaglio, but there are some aquatint, etchings, copper and silver plate works. These works are all centered around women - traditional, colorful and traditional. This style requires plenty of hard work in the preparation of the zinc or copper ink plate, creating outlines of the drawing on the plate and dipping in acid.
Laxma Goud is a 68-year-old artist who taught his craft to many students in Andhra Pradesh. He is a very familiar artist, and one of the senior-most in Hyderabad, right after Jagdish Mittal. He has done his diploma in drawing and paintings from the Government College of Fine Arts & Architecture, Hyderabad, in 1963. He also studied mural designing with an Andhra Pradesh Lalit Kala Academy scholarship under Prof. K G Subrahmanyam, at the Faculty of Fine Arts, M S University, Baroda, during 1963-65.
He worked as a Graphic Supervisor for Doordarshan Hyderabad during 1974-89, and headed the Sarojini Naidu School of Performing Arts, Fine Arts And Communication from 1989 to 2001. He has held several solo and group exhibitions at many art galleries of India, and abroad too, in USA, Brazil, Germany and UK.
