Encounters, the multi-cuisine restaurant of Taj Krishna, is hosting a food festival of Goan delicacies from 20th to 28th February. Chef Domingos Berges, specially flown in from Goa, will be unveiling the classic creations of legendary Chef Rego.
Items made from rice, fish and coconut abound in nearly every Goan meal. Seafood - such as prawns, lobsters, crabs, pomfrets, clams, ladyfish, mussels, and oysters - is used to make a variety of curries, fries, soups and pickles. Besides fresh seafood, dried and salted fish dishes are also highly prized by Goans.
The Goan specialties featured at Encounters include Sorpotels, Vindaloo, Khatkhate, Verde, Balchao, Caldine and Bebinca. You could start with the soups - Caldo Verdo and Caldo Vermelho. Then, for your main course you could choose from among Goan Fish Curry, Fish Ambotik Shark, Mackerel Curry, Shark/Chicken/Lamb Xacuti, Chicken Cafreal/Peri Peri, Sannas, Formiyan De Verde, Lamb/Pork Vindaloo, Pork Stew With Choris & Potato, Beef Chilli Fry, Pork Balchao, Prawn Peri Peri, Crab Curry/Xec Xec/Baked/Yellow Curry, Lobster Xec Xec and the Pomfret Curry. Round it off with Bebinca, Dodol and Bolo-de-Rulao in the desserts section.
The festival is a la carte for lunch, and served as a buffet for dinner. The buffet costs Rs. 1,200 and includes unlimited beer.
