Between them, they've won everything from Kalam's commendations to Palakollu's hearts. Meet them all this week.
Chitramayee is organizing a group painting exhibition from the 29th of October to the 4th of November. There are seven artists participating in the exhibition: B Taara Nagesh, Uday Kumar Marlapudi, Kocherla Venkateshwar Rao, Thippani Venkat Rao, N S Sarma, S V Rama Sastry and Korasala Sitarama Swamy.
A little bit about the artists: B Taara Nagesh learnt painting under the guidance of late Balaji, at Damerla Rama Rao Memorial Art School, Rajahmundry. He has participated in many solo and group shows. His political cartoons were published in local newspapers. He has also made illustrations for a few children's mythological books.
Uday Kumar Marlapudi is a BFA from the Andhra University, Vizag. He has participated in both solo and group exhibitions. He also writes poetry. He received commendations from A P J Abdul Kalam, President of India, at the Conference On International Water Management 2003. Recently he painted the 2,000-year-old history of Kheerapuri (Palakol) on a 1,050 square feet canvas. He also makes sculptures.
Kocherla Venkateshwar Rao has participated in many solo and group shows - to name a few, the Graphics Workshop at the A P Lalita Kala Academy, Hyderabad; the Kala Mela at the Lalith Kala Academy, New Delhi; and at Shrishti Art Gallery, Hyderabad. His story illustrations are published in local newspapers.
Thippani Venkat Rao is a self-taught artist. He also makes illustrations and political cartoons. His solo exhibitions were held in Hyderabad, Vijaywada, Vizag, Vijaynagaram and Rajahmundry. He is currently working as an art teacher at Kala Darshini and Loyola College, Vijaywada.
N S Sarma has a diploma in fine arts. He has conducted many solo and group shows and has been felicitated by many organizations for his work. He also trains art students.
S V Rama Sastry is a self-trained artist and has worked with both realism and abstract paintings. He has won many awards from various institutions for his work. Recently he was given the "Excellence - 2005" award by HCI Hyderabad, for his multi-faceted talent, and the Art Mitra, Visistha Acharya Puraskar. He also writes modern Telugu poetry, and his book called "Sapta Varna Swapnam" was recently published.
Korasala Sitarama Swamy has participated in many solo and group shows. He also makes glass and ink paintings. He paints Lord Vinayaka in innovative and different styles. To encourage new artists he started two organizations called Konaseema Chitra Kala Parishad and Wonder Art World.
The exhibition will be inaugurated by Mahakavi Dr N Gopi, Dean - Faculty Of Arts, Osmania University.
