Chitramayee - State Gallery Of Fine Arts is organising an exhibition of unique art called dried leaf art, by Vasantha Mukthavaram, from 19th to 26th August. This art is created by using dried leaves and flowers which the artist collects when they have fallen from the plants/trees. She then dries them by removing the remaining moisture, using a special technique.
Without any modifications or cuttings, Vasantha then uses these to create various art works like men, women, flowers, birds, animals and landscapes, depending upon the shapes of her dried stuff. This painstaking artwork requires concentration, imagination and creativity. Vasantha has been practising this art form since 2004.
In the current exhibition of about 50 works, Vasantha has used dried grass, straws and twigs, in addition to leaves and flowers. With these, she has created a dancing peacock, a hissing snake, young Krishna, Durga, Bathukamma, flower bouquets, an aquarium, Gandhiji, and animals like an elephant, a horse, a rabbit, a turtle and a camel.
Please contact Vasantha Mukthavaram at 98665-78260 or Chitramayee at 2311-3308 for further details.
