Alankritha Art Gallery is organising a group exhibition of paintings by 12 artists, from 25th August to 4th September. Titled Mirror Speaks So..., the exhibition features 15 paintings by well-known artistes like Achuthan Kudallur, Arya Chandra Chowdhury, Ashoke Mullick, B V Nalakar, Babu Xavier, M S Mani, Nitin Nangare, Prokash Karmakar, Rini Dhumal, Subrata Gangopadhyay, Thota Tharani and Yashwant Shirwadkar.
Achuthan Kudallur has a painting on Ganesha, while Arya Chandra Chowdhury has done one on an urban woman with an earthen pot. Ashok Mullick has painted a royal lady with a hand fan and B V Nalakar's painting is about a historical monument of Rajasthan with tourists.
Babu Xavier's display includes one painting of a tree with a number of eyes instead of leaves, which he has called A Tree Of Eyes Without Any Myths Behind, and another one with three trees and a beautiful woman, which he has called Luminous Tree.
Thota Tharani has two abstract landscapes while Yashwant Shirwadkar's two works of heritage paintings with tourists around reminds you of our country's rich history. Subrata Gangopadhyay is famous for capturing women's beauty on canvas, and so his work has three charming women with saris.
Rini Dhumal has painted a portrait of a rural woman, and J M S Mani, also interested in rural women, has done a painting of a woman slicing a watermelon. Nitin Nangare has chosen to paint a shy rural Rajasthani woman while Prokash Karmakar preferred the urban lady.
