A 2-week long exhibition-cum-sale of traditional crafts of the North-Eastern region directly by the artisans of those provinces is taking place at the Institute Of Engineers (Vishweshwarayya Bhavan). This exhibition is being jointly sponsored by the Development Commissioner (Handicrafts), the Ministry Of Textiles and the Govt. Of India & NEHHDC.
Colourful tribal weaves, hand-woven fabrics with rich and symbolic ornamentation, cane and bamboo crafts, wood carvings, embroidery, jewellery, brass and bell metal, basketry, tribal ornaments, toys and dolls, quilted cotton material, grass cushions and mattresses and many more creations are on display here. Live demonstrations by craftsmen will be the highlight.
The entry is free. Plenty of parking space is available, and all major credit cards are accepted. The exhibition is on from 10am to 9pm in the evening. The tagline of this event is "dedicated artisans seek your appreciation".
