Shrishti Art Gallery is organising an exhibition of paintings, drawings and etchings by M Krishna Reddy, from 7th to 15th September, at the gallery premises on Road No. 15, Jubilee Hills. A recent collection of around 55 paintings are on display and sale.
These paintings are both figurative and abstract, on women, flowers, God and meditation - Sandhya, Ganesha, My Lord, Banjara, My Flower and Passionate. As with all artists, Krishna Reddy also derives inspiration for his paintings from flowers and women. He has addressed this issue very well, with portraits and full figures of women among flowers, especially sunflowers.
Krishna Reddy completed his Bachelor of Fine Arts (Painting) from JNTU in 1996, and Master of Fine Arts (Printmaking) from the Sarojini Naidu School, University of Hyderabad, in 1999. He has paricipated in the All-India Senior Students Graphics camp in Bhopal; the Traditional Tribal & Folk Painting Workshop in 1996 conducted by the South Central Zone Cultural Centre, Nagpur, at Khammam; the Etching Workshop at the JNTU College of Fine Arts, in 1996; a workshop in etching by Toni Martina at the JNTU College of Fine Arts, in 1997; and the Senior Students Graphic Camps in Bhopal and Goa in 1998 & 1999 respectively.
He has also been part of the Art Festival at Chennai by the Lalit Kala Academy in 2007, and of solo exhibitions at Orchids - The International School, Minaz Art Gallery, and about 18 other group shows in Hyderabad. He was awarded by the Family Planning Association of India in 1992, the Hyderabad Art Society during 1994/95/96 and 1998, the Lalit Kala Samiti (Siddipet) in 1995, and received a cash prize at the 59th Hyderabad Art Society in 1999. Currently, he is working in the Fine Art Faculty at Glendale Academy.
