Life is not about holding good cards, but about playing those that you hold well.
That's an art, and these people have made a mission of propagating that. Led by
a man who has helped millions of people restore basic human values such as love,
compassion and friendliness within themselves, the Art Of Living Foundation is
a group of volunteers and dedicated staff of various cultures, ages, backgrounds
and religions that offers educational programs in over 100 countries to help people
live life with love, wisdom and joyful enthusiasm.
Sri Sri Ravi Shankar is coming to Hyderabad on the 10th of this month, and a "Divya
Satsang" will be held in his presence. A good number of Abhayasis is expected
to participate in this satsang.
Ravi Shankar (referred to as Sri Sri by his followers), the founder of the Foundation,
is a globally renowned advocate of peace and love. He served on the advisory board
of Yale University's School of Divinity and chaired the International Conference
of Religions in Kyoto, Japan. And in August of 2000, he addressed the United Nations
Millennium World Peace Summit of Religious and Spiritual Leaders.
Sri Sri started the Art of Living Foundation in 1982 to teach his programs for personal improvement worldwide. He inspired and continues to guide many other educational, charitable, and humanitarian organizations around the globe, like
"International Association for Human Values" - dedicated to encouraging and supporting the cultivation of basic human values in societies throughout the world
"Dollar-A-Day" - a service program that provides children and their communities with food, medical services, clean water, clothing, and education
"ART Excel" - All-Round Training for excellence, a stress management and personal development course for children and teens
"5-H Program" - a holistic approach to social services, focusing on: Homes, Health, Hygiene, Harmony in Diversity, and Human Values. At-risk youth are employed to help implement the 5-H program in their communities
"Prison SMART" - a new approach to juvenile and adult prisoner rehabilitation
Satsangs are gatherings of people organized by the Art of Living Foundation that help them connect to other realms of existence, ones beyond the daily grinds of eating, thinking and worrying. In Sri Sri's words, "When you sit in a Satsang, the whole creation rejoices and enjoys your being in the Satsang, because you are then fulfilling the purpose for which you are born. You are not born just to eat, sleep or die just like another animal. Satsang connects you to other realms of existence. It changes your entire constitution, becomes reverberant with joy, bliss and the feeling of 'come what may, I will keep smiling'. In Satsang, everybody is part of the whole."
