A psychology enthusiast gets hypnotised by Toulouse-Lautrec - check out her soul-searching endevours bearing fruit.
The State Gallery Of Art, Madhapura, is hosting an exhibition of paintings and digital art by Pune based artist Meenal Chaudhari. Most of the paintings are acrylics on canvas, and some are on paper. The work is mostly in the figurative-abstract genre, using the basic elements of nature. The digital works are more prolific due to the convenience of the medium, and also as the artists finds a natural spontaniety here. The digitals are mostly done on super heavy (170 gms) wt coated (matt) paper of the A4 size.
Meenal Chaudhari, with an academic background in psychology, started exploring painting and great artists during college in the 1980s. While administering the Rorschach Ink-Blot test, the subject's response to a card was that it looked like a painting by Toulouse-Lautrec. When Meenal admitted she had no idea what that looked like, she was asked to browse through a fat book on art. Thus started her artistic quest, and Meenal has never looked back since.
