The next best thing to watching the guru perform is to watch the pupils perform. And settling for second best is something we are all ingrained to doing, right since from when we realize that we can't watch Lord Nataraja perform, and have to settle for the mortal disciples of his. Here's one more teacher putting up his pupils on display.
P Kranthi Kiran, a 26-year-old talented artiste, started the Padmavathi Art Academy, a Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam institute, in May. And the first crop is already out. He has about 25 students training under him, and they are going to perform today at this august venue. All the 25 performers are students, and studying in anything from LKG to degree.
Kranthi Kiran himself started at the raw age of 8, and trained until he reached 21. And he has now given 317 performances in various cities like Chennai, Mumbai, Bangalore and Hyderabad. And he has now chosen this as his profession, and teaches it to the aspiring students. The ideals are noble indeed - he says that he has chosen this line to save the traditional art, which is fast diminishing in the modernization sweeping the world. Right now he teaches at the Roots Public School, the Dayanand School, the DAVP School and the Nasr School.
This evening, he will support his students on Nattuvangam. Please contact P Kranthi Kiran at 98491-90620 for further details.
