The Rangamani Chariar Arts Academy is organising Cine Bhakti Swaravali, a nite of devotional songs, on 14th August, at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha. On this occasion, a CD, Ashtalakshmi Ganamrutham, containing 8 devotional songs on goddess Ashtalakshmi, composed by V L N Chariar, will be released by the chief guest of the evening, Padmabhushan and Gnanpeeth awardee Dr. C Narayana Reddy.
The music nite has been designed by V L N Chariar, and amateur singers including D A Mitra, Padmavati, Venkateshwara Rao, Haricharan, Chandrasekhar, Prasanna Lakshmi and Jayamani will sing both cine devotional songs and songs from the CD. The music is by Brahmanandam and party.
Rangamani Chariar Arts Academy was established in April 2007 by V L N Chariar, a 75-year-old music composer, singer and anchor, in memory of his late wife Vangipuram Rangamani. Chariar is a well-known personality in cultural circles. He has been in this field since 1952, and has been conferred upon the title of Raaga Visleshana Visharada by Dr. C Narayana Reddy in 2002 for completing 50 years of music composing. He is unique for organizing musical nites based on classical music ragas. He trains singers to sing a particular song in different ragas.
