To mark its 4th anniversary, Moving Images, in association with the Kalakriti Art Gallery, is presenting a talk by Ashis Nandy, on 14th August, at the Kalakriti Art Gallery on Road No. 10, Banjara Hills. Nandy's talk will be followed by a discussion with the audiences on Indian popular cinema.
Ashis Nandy, born in 1937, is one of the leading social, cultural and political critics of India, and an internationally known public intellectual. His field covers a vast area of thinking such as public conscience, political psychology, mass violence, nationalism and culture (including cinema). He has worked on cultures of knowledge, visions, and dialogues of civilizations.
He received the Fukuoka Asian Culture Prize in 2007. In 2008, he was named as one of the top 100 public intellectuals of the world by the magazine, Foreign Policy, published by The Carnegie Endowment for International Peace.
