If pink is the new black of the fashion world, Chettinad is the new Chinese of the gastronomic one. This cuisine which originated from the deep-south of Tamil Nadu, belongs to the rich money-lending caste – the Chettiyars. It is known to be a rich and exotic cuisine, given its use of oil and spices as well exotic ingredients like Quail.
And so every Hyderabadi restaurant worth its salt will have a Chettinad festival either today or tomorrow. And since The NKM is very much worth its salt, their fete begins the 4th of March and goes on till the 12th of March.
They will serve a dinner buffet for Rs. 185 + taxes, which will include a complimentary welcome drink (Neer Mor) and beer. The mutton based soup Nanju-Elambu will get your tummy growling for the delectable main fare which takes the form of chicken and mutton curries, mutton biriyani, vegetable koot, kuriyal, white rice, rasam, Karakolamba and Vattakolamba. This of course, only follows the starters made with chicken/fish, and is accompanied by papads and pickles. A live counter doles out appams and Paniyaram. Dessert is payasam and cut-fruit.
Enjoy this meal between 1900-2300 hrs everyday at The NKM Grand, and for further details please contact Sunder Raj at 93475-22205 or Sandeep at 93467-24031.
