None other than the Chief Minister Mr. Y S R Reddy to inaugaurate this queen of all handicraft exhibitions, that started on the 4th of March in People's Plaza at Necklace Road. Dr. J Geetha Reddy and Shri Mohd. Shabbir Ali were guests of honour.
The expanses of People's Plaza along the Hussain Sagar shoreline are enough to accommodate a whopping array of handicrafts including softwood toys and dolls from Kondapally, Nirmal and Etikoppakku villages, hand-paintings in Cherial, Nirmal, Kalahasti and Batik styles,puppets and lampshades in leather, metal castings and sheet-metal art-ware, brass artware, Bidriware, carvings in stone and wood, ceramic and terracotta pottery, crochet laces, Kalamkari blockprints from Machilipatnam, cotton dhurries, silver filigree, Banjara tribal embroidery, silver jewelry etc.
Fine handlooms like Mangalgiri, Narayanpet, Siddipet, Venkatgiri, Gadhwal, Pochampally, Dharmavaram and Kottakota are also on display for the discerning buyer. The exhibition goes on till the 13th of March.
