The Pendekanti Institute of Management at the Vasavi College of Engineering campus, is organising a business management simulation game called Chanakya '07, on 23rd and 24th March. Chanakya is a management game that simulates a real business environment, and the participants face the pains and gains of running the company. They are confronted with business issues related to development of strategy, execution tactics and competitor analysis. The business effects of the decisions taken are felt by the participants.

Chanakya is based on specifically created scenarios that focus on developing the business acumen and hone the decision making skills of people. Conflicting situations lead the participants to take decisions under extreme pressure as in real life business situations.

The 2-day game is spread over five rounds, typically played by teams comprising of four members. Functional heads are appointed by the team, like CEO, CFO, COO and CMO, and each team represents an enterprise. The winning criteria will be pre-determined and participants take decisions every round to maximize scores on the winning criteria.

Every team needs to work on production, marketing and pricing strategies, cost management, and product development to reach the goal before the others. The decision of every round is fed into a sophisticated computer algorithm that models the real world.

This game enables students/participants understand cross-functional relationships, run a company in a simulated environment, hone decision-making skills, understand the financial implications of decisions taken, finding, analyzing and employing information in decision-making, understanding the importance of teamwork, and experiencing the thrill of running a company in a competitive environment.

Pendekanti Institute of Management (PIM) offers a Master's Degree in Business Management, and is affiliated to the Osmania University and approved by AICTE. The 2-year full time program was started in the academic year 1991-92. The institute is sponsored by the Vasavi Academy of Education, which was established in 1981 under the stewardship of late Pendekanti Venkatasubbaiah, former Governor of Bihar and Karnataka.
