An exhibition of paintings & drawings by D L N Reddy is on from 17th to 27th March, at the Shrishti Art Gallery. Reddy is a well-known Hyderabad-based artist, who lives and works in the city. This collection of his paintings contains both realistic and abstract art done in mixed media.
Reddy was born in 1949 in Nerada, Andhra Pradesh, and earned a Diploma in Painting from the JNTU College of Fine Arts, Hyderabad, and studied graphic art at M S University, Baroda. He held solo shows and participated in numerous exhibitions in different parts of the world including the IIIrd British International Print Biennale, UK, in 1972, the IIIrd International Exhibition of Graphics Art, Frenchen, in West Germany in 1974, the First International Exhibition of Graphics Art, New Delhi, in 1974, the Biennale of Graphics Arts, Ljubljiana, Yugoslavia, in 1975, the VIth British International Print Biennale in 1979, the Indian Graphics Exhibition, Cuba, in 1981, and a touring exhibition of seven Indian artists to West German cities in 1982.
Reddy has received gold medals from the A P Lalit Kala Akademi and the Hyderabad Art Society, the Group 8 Award in New Delhi, and the Outstanding Artist Fellowship from the Department of Culture. He taught at the Sarojini Naidu School of Fine Arts, University of Hyderabad.
