Shilparamam, as part of its weekly program of classical music, is organising a Carnatic vocal recital by Balarama Sastry, on 18th November. Sastry, along with S V Ramana Murthy on the violin and S Hanumantha Rao on the mridangam, will start the evening with the traditional recital of Vathapi Ganapathim in Hamsadhwani raagam, followed by:

Balarama Sastry is a retired headmaster of the Government High School in Tadepalligudem, and learnt music from Tirupati Ponna Rao. He is a B-grade artiste of the All India Radio, Vijayawada, in both Carnatic and light music. He have given performances in various gana sabhas and cities of South India, and in Kolkata, Bhubaneshwar, Cuttack and Chennai.
He is a talented vocalist, having received innumerous awards and titles, like Swarachatura, Nada Gaanarnava, Sangeeta Sekhara and Sangeeta Vidhwanmani from Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabhas in Hyderabad, Pallakollu, Saripella and Eluru respectively.
