The problem with watching 2 kids of ages 13 and 9 on stage is that they make you feel every bit of your age and your mediocrity. It's surprising still how many people will turn up tonite.
Shilparamam, as part of its weekly program of dance, is presenting a Bharatanatyam recital by Sridevi and Sreeja, on 18th November. Sridevi and Sreeja, both young dancers, will be starting with the Pushpanjali, followed by Sri Vighna Rajam, Kailailil Nadamadum, Bandi Virichi, Brocheva, Kamsasura, Meenakshi, and, finally, the Tillana.
They will be supported by Sweta Prasad on the vocals, Renuka Prasad on the mridangam, Muralidharacharya on the violin and Chitra Narayanan with the nattuvangam.
Sridevi and Sreeja are disciples of Chitra Narayanan, and have been learning dance since 3 years of age. They had their arangetram at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha in February this year. Sridevi is 13 years of age and studying in the 8th class at Siddhartha High School, while Sreeja is 9, and studying in the 4th class at Don Bosco High School. They have participated in various dance recitals under their guru Chitra Narayanan, in Srisailam, Tirupati and Hyderabad. Sreeja is also learning Carnatic vocals from Chitra.
