Shilparamam is presenting a Carnatic vocal recital by B Naga Malleshwara Rao, on 15th September. The music support for the recital will be provided by M V Subrahmanya Prasad on the mridangam and Anil Kumar on the violin.
Naga Malleshwara Rao will start the evening with some Muthuswamy Dikshitar's kritis - Mahaganapathim in Nata ragam and Eka talam, Vatapi Ganapathim in Hamsadwani ragam and Adi talam, and Sri Gananaadam in Eesamanohari ragam and Roopaka talam - and will follow them up with Thyagaraja's Sadamadin in Gambiravani ragam and Adi talam, Annamacharya's Narayanate Namo Namo in Behaag ragam and Adi talam, Jayadeva's Yaahi Maadhava in Desh ragam and Adi talam, and finally Dr. Mangalampalli Balamurali's Tillana in Kuntalavaraali ragam and Adi talam.
Bhaktula Naga Malleswara Rao, learnt initially under the renowned violinist Annavarapu Rama Swamy, and thereafter went under various gurus such as G V Rama Kumari, his own father Bhaktula Bala Koteswara Rao, and Modumudi Sudhakar. After completing his diploma in vocal and violin, Malleshwara Rao also went on to complete his M A in music from the Telugu University.
In addition to participation in various programs in TV & AIR, he has also been part of concerts at innumerable sabhas in Hyderabad, Vijayawada, Chennai, Kadapa and Adilabad. He is also a regular violin accompanist, and has accompanied many vocalists and dancers such as Dr. Alekhya Punjla, Dr. Sobha Naidu, Dr. Ananda Shankar Jayanth and Rajeshwari Sainath. Currently, he works as a music teacher at the Government High School, Raj Bhavan Road.
