Ohri's Banjara is organizing a Bengali food festival for 10 days, where the Bengal delicacy Hilsa (fish) will be served at the dinner buffet as part of most dishes. The buffet starts at 7:30pm and goes on till 11:30pm in the night. The menu keeps changing daily.
Hilsa is a delicacy in Bengal. This is a small fish available in high sea, that rots fast. The moment it is caught, it is refrigerated.
This 10-day food festival at Ohri's will see Hilsa used in most of the dishes including Bhapa Ilish, Rui Macher Kaliya, Murgir Jhol, Murighonto and Laue Chingri. There are also vegetable fried items like Bhaja Bhuja (aloo, bhendi, begoon), Suktho, Labrah, Phul Kofir Tarkari and Mooger Dal available. In rice there are Sada Bhat and Pulao. Anaraser is a special chutney side dish. In sweets there are Payeesh, Rasgolla, Malai Chamcham, Misti Doi and Badam Bhog. Salads include Puchka, Aloo Channa Chat, Gajor, Phaz, Tamater and Shosha. Loochi is a bread.
