If you thought that the only thing that the young and the old alike celebrated with equal vigor was the commercial breaks on Gemini TV's slooooow soaps, then here's some more.
The Kamalakar Memorial Trust that was established around 12 years back to help the poor is celebrating its 12th anniversary today. This trust also set up the Mamata Old Age Home 3 years back on the same day.
On the occasion, the Trust will give away Visista Puraskar Awards to 2 pairs and to 2 individuals. I V Chalapathi Rao (Retired Registrar, CIEFL) and I Seethadevi, Y V S Murthy (Vice Chairman, Alkali Metal Industries) and Lalitha Murthy (Chairman, Alkali Metal Industries), Manoharamma (Director, Alapati Venkataramayya Vayo Vrudhaashramam) and Malladi Padmavathi (Retired Deputy Inspector of Schools) are to receive these awards.
As a part of the cultural programs, three women aged above 70 belonging to the Mamata Old Age Home will present Chilakamarti Vari Gayopakhyanamuloni Sri Krishnarjuna Yudhdha Ghatam. Bharatha Bharathi Sahitya Roopam by nine women will follow the above program. Lastly, kids belonging to the Sri Vikasa Bharathi School (established by the Trust) will present a couple of dance and drama items.
