Most guys in the city would love to be students here. And for all those who've
decided that they are willing to settle for one day at least, this is it. The
Sri Sai Vignana Bharathi College for Women is celebrating its annual day function
amidst cultural programs, and with the First Lady being that here, too - the chief
guest, that is.
The evening will start in a very traditional way, beginning with a Kalasam puja,
a Purnakumbham, the chanting of slokas by Vedic scholars, a procession by college
girls along with the chief guest to the dais... the whole thing is likely to remind
you of Indumati Swayamvaram!
A prize distribution ceremony will be the first event. On the 10th of February,
the college had organised a Maths competitive exam, in which 800 boys and 600
girls from 72 schools participated. A cash award of Rs 501 will be given to the
first ranker of this exam, a student of Tirumala College, followed by an award
of Rs. 251 for the second ranker, a student of St. Anthony's College, and Rs.
101 for the third ranker, pupil of Sri Satya Sai Vidya Vihar. A rolling shied
is being given to the Tirumala College that produced the first ranker, and a certificate
to the student who stood first.
A magic show by Purushottam of Magic brothers, followed by a light music performed
by the college lecturer Ravindra and his students, will entertain the audience.
And the college students will conclude the event with a solo performance, a horror
show, and Mathuri, Bhangada and Lambada dances.
Dr. Ramakrishna, the ex-vice chancellor of Osmania University, will be the presiding
guest along with Dr. Haripriya Rangarajan. Please contact Sai Baba, correspondent,
