Food cooked on fire is 'Lazzat-e-Dahen'. And a biryani festival by the same name is tantalizing many a palate at The Jewel Of Nizam, the multi-cuisine restaurant at the Hotel Golkonda. The hotel customarily organizes this special biryani festival every year to cater to the taste buds of the Hyderabadis. This year, they are pampering their customers with a number of items on their menu.
The festival would suit the non-vegetarians more - as there is a larger number of items for them. 'Kachi Falaknuma Biryani', a traditional mutton biryani served with mirchi-ka salan and raita,
'Lazeez Sofiyani Biryani', an authentic-style (whatever that means) chicken biryani cooked in dum and served with salan and raita,
'Jhinga Janam Biryani', tiger prawns marinated with rich Indian spices cooked on dum,
'Birbali Hundi Biryani' a special biryani made with paneer and sultanas, and served with salan and raita,
'Baby Corn Mushroom Biryani', with a self explanatory name, and
the 'Golkonda Special Biryani', made specially with a collection of dals and mince meat cooked on dum are the many special items which will be waiting to be served to, and savored by, you.
There is a traditional biryani 'Tarkari Handi Biryani' for vegetarians, with many side dishes available to complement it. Shahi Khoya Mattar, Vegetable Akbari, Tamatar Cut, Zafrani Kofta, Aloo Nazaakat, Pudina Dal Kabab and Masaledar Paneer are a few. For the non-vegetarians there are Murg Shikampura, Kaju Murgh, Pattar Ka Ghost, Shammi Kabab, Ajwaini Macchi, Ghost Dalcha and Haleem.
Under Shorbas, you can order among the six varieties that they serve. Now without dessert any meal will remain incomplete, so you can order any one (or several, if you have a really sweet tooth) among the seven varieties available on the menu.
The items are priced between Rs. 39 and Rs. 149. Further details can be obtained from Kamat, F&B Manager, at 332-0202 or 332-0303.
