We don't lag behind anyone when it comes to helping the needy, says the Hyderabad Maanagar Tamil Sangham.
Their presence was felt in the city with the celebration of their festival the previous month, the 'Pongal Vizha'. And now, in order to help the earthquake affected victims of Gujarat, the Sangham is arranging a musical program this evening to be presented by Bharat and troupe. The artistes presenting this musical bonanza are M S Srinivas, Mani Nagaraj, Sunanda, Yashoda and Sunil.
On the 4th there is a special program being held for ladies on the occasion of the Women's Day, starting at 1:00pm at the Keyes High School. The various disciplines in which the competitions are taking place are essay writing, Tamil poems (8 lines minimum), Tamil speech (purely Tamil - no words borrowed from any other language) and Carnatic music. There are also Jodi (perfect pair), and Ek-Minute.
The winners in these competitions will be given their prizes on the 11th at the Ravindra Bharathi by Haripriya Rangarajan. On the same day, before the commencement of the function, there will be a one-hour Rangoli competition and the winners will be given prizes in the same function. The importance of women in society will be a topic, since this is the day for women.
