The All-India Tennis Association is organising the Lanco-JHIC Under-16 All-India Ranking National Series Junior Tennis Tournament, from 7th to 12th January, at the Jubilee Hills International Centre tennis courts.
The main draw will have 64 players in the boys' singles and 16 pairs in the boys' doubles, while there will be 48 players in the girls' singles and 16 pairs in the girls' doubles. 17th ranked Ronit Bisht of Delhi is the top seed in the boys section. The girls section is headed by 17th ranked Ankita Rana of Gujarat.
Host Andhra Pradesh has 11 players in the boys' and 16 in the girls' categories. In boys, S V Abhishek leads the hosts with a seeding of 3 and all-India rank of 23, while P Bhavana Suresh in leads in girls with a seeding of 7 and an all-India rank of 41.
In addition to the sponser trophies, the players gain valuable points through this championship. While the 1st round, 2nd round and 3rd round losers will be awarded 5, 10 and 20 points respectively, the losing quarterfinalists, semifinalists and finalists stand to gain 30, 40 and 50 points respectively. The winner gets 75 points. These points boost the individual rankings of the players.
