REVIEW FOR AKKINENI-VAMSEE INTERNATIONAL AWARDS 2007

Vamsee Art Theatres International is presenting the Akkineni-Vamsee International Awards 2007, on 19th September, at the Ravindra Bharathi. These awards are presented every year during the birth anniversary celebrations of Dr. Akkineni Nageshwara Rao, and this year the recipients are as under:

V S Ramadevi, Ex-Governor of Karnataka
G V Krishna Reddy, Chairman of GVK Group of Industries
Paruchuri Hanumantha Rao, Chairman of Pragathi Art Printers
Dr. K Ramalakshmi, Novelist
Arudra, Telugu movies lyricist
Dr. Tummala Madhava Rao, Physician, USA

Vamsee Art Theatres International is one of the premier cultural organisations of India, having branches in USA in addition to in Hyderabad. Established by Dr. Vamsee Ramaraju about 10 years ago, the organisation has staged various programs.

Dr. Ramaraju is also a founder-member of many other organisations, like Relangi Arts Academy, Abhinandana, Vamsee Cultural & Educational Trust, Sri Lakshmi Nrusimha Charities and Vamsee Berkeley Film & TV Awards Committee, and is the Founder Managing Trustee of Vegesna Foundation (USA) and the Convenor of TSR Kalapeetham.

He is the nominee of many flourishing cultural organisations. He was twice the member of the Nandi Awards committee, and was the chairman of the Nandi Natakotsava Hospitality Committee 6 times. He is a member of the International Film Festival and the International Children's Film Festival committees.

He was conferred upon the 'Siromani' Award by Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma, the then Vice-President of India, in 1987. He was also conferred upon the title of "Seva Kalitha Viswa Karma" by the Telugu Fine Arts Society, New Jersey; "Vikalangula Apatbandhava" by the Telugu Assoication of North Texas, Dallas, USA; "Sangha Seva Siromani" by the Telugu Cultural Association, Houston, USA; and "Lifetime Achievement Award" by the Swarnandhra Cultural Association, Houston, USA.
