Watch Demon King Mahasura bite the dust all over again, in Kuchipudi style. Dr Usharani, alongwith her young and experienced troupe of classical dancers, presents a Kuchipudi Ballet titled, "Sri Siddhi Vinayaka Vijayam" portraying the birth, death, rebirth and the killing of the notorious demon king Mahasura.
Dr Usharani is an acclaimed dancer, who has choreographed this ballet, in which she and her troupe try to show the theme in a drama-dance ballet.
It starts with the artificial birth of Ganesha with sandalwood dough by Goddess Parvathi, assassination and rebirth in the form of Ganesha with an elephant head, Mushikasura (rat) Vahana Anugraham, Laughing of Moon at Ganesha and the subsequent curse, and finally the war with the demon-king Mahasura, who gets killed by the broken tusk of Ganesha. The ballet is wound up with the Jaya Jayaho, the victory song.
Gayathri, Keerthana, A Aishwarya, Manasa, Lahiri, Saikumar, Meghana, Srija, Manisha, Shreya, Kiranmayi, Madhurima, Aishwarya, Usha, Deepika and Parvathi, together with Dr Usharani would be performing this ballet. Dr Usharani would be Goddess Parvathi, with Madhurima and Shreya as Lord Ganesh.
Dr Usharani is a MA and Doctrate in Dance from Potti Sriramulu Telugu University. She has learnt and is still learning Kuchipudi from Pasumarthi Seshubabu. She has over 400 performances to her credit, all over India, with many awards, a few being, Natya Mayuri, Natya Choodamani, Sri Kalaratna, Kala Prapoorna, etc. Over 200 students have learnt the art of Kuchipudi under tutelage and some 45 more members are still learning from her.
