Renown mridangam player Kapa Srinivas Rao is presenting Nada Sangamam, a classical music concert, on 26th April, at the Shilparamam crafts village. Accompanying him are P Srinivas Gopalan on the morsing, Krishna Prakash on the kanjira, T P Balasubrahmanyam on the ghatam and Pavan Singh on the violin. The group will start the recital with a Vatapi Ganapathim, followed by Endaro Mahanubhavulu, Raghuvamsa Sudhamayi, a Pallavi and a light music beat.
Kapa Srinivas Rao is the 5th descendant in a family of mridangam players, and had his initial training under his father Kapa Ramachandra Murthy. He completed his advanced training under Dr. Yella Venkateswara Rao. He is an A-grade artiste of AIR and DD, and is also a graded artiste in ghatam, kanjira and morsing.
Srinivas has performed in many places of the country, and has accompanied renowned vocalists such as Manda Balarama Sarma, Dr. Nookala Chinna Satyanarayana, Srirangam Gopalaratnam, Dr. Bala Muralikrishna, Maharajapuram Santhanam, Rudrapatnam Brothers, M S Balasubrahmanyam and O S Thiagarajan. Srinivas and K C Srivani, his wife and a Kuchipudi dancer, teach mridangam and dance to a number of students at their residence.
