Shilparamam, as part of the ongoing All-India Crafts Mela from 16th to 31st December, is organising a Kuchipudi dance and folk dance recital by Vijayapal Pathloth and group today, the 13th day.
The recital for the evening has Kuchipudi dance recitals by Vijayapal Pathloth, Vamsi, Ramani and Uma Devulapalli. They starting with Vinayaka Stuti, followed by Durga Tarangam, Dashavataram, Annamacharya Keertanas and Tillana. Immediately following this are folk dances by Nagaraju, Srinivas, N K Chawla, Venkat, Laxman, Sirisha, Keerthi, Ashwini and Sridevi. They will be presenting the Lambada, Dhimsa, Mathuri and Dhond folk recitals - some of which can make you feel like you are stuck in a jungle and not in the Shilparamam village.
Vijayapal is an excellent dancer, who has accompanied renowned dancers like Swapna Sundari, Kala Krishna, Hemamalini Arni and Padmaja Reddy. He has a diploma and masters in dance from Potti Sriramulu Telugu University, and is currently doing his M Phil in folk dance. He has learned Kuchipudi from Chinta Adinarayana Sarma, Alekhya Punjala, Bhagawathula Sethuram and Kala Krishna, all masters in their art. He has performed all over India, and now teaches folk and Kuchipudi dance to more than 100 students.
