Kalasagaram, on the occasion of its 39th Annual Cultural Festival Of Music, Dance And Drama from 24th November to 3rd December, is organising a Carnatic Keyboard recital by M Satyanarayanan today, the 2nd day, at Bhagyalakshmi Kalabhavan in the Keyes Girls High School. Nithyasree will be supported by Peri Srirama Murthy on the violin and D S R Murthy on the mridangam.
Satyanarayanan learnt vocal music from his mother Lalitha and grandfather Sangeetha Bhooshanam Embar S Sadagopan, violin from Kalamamani A Kanyakumari and Carnatic music on the keyboards from Padmasri Mandolin U Srinivas. He also learnt Western music from Alphonse. He passed Grade VIII of the Electronic Keyboard Examination from Trinity College, London at the age of 10 itself.
Satyanarayanan has over 260 concerts to his credit, having given 18 concerts in South Africa and Mauritius in 2003 alone. He has sung for Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu films under various music directors. Just 11 years of age yet, he is already creating sensations in the world of Carnatic music with his scintillating and innovative performances.
Kalasagaram is a South-Indian cultural association situated in the East Nehru Nagar of East Marredpally, and has been organising Carnatic music concerts for more than 35 years. The concerts are always held in the Keyes High School campus in the open-air theater. The singers are generally from outside Hyderabad, usually amateurs and upcoming artistes, and quite competent. Kalasagaram also occasionally stages South-Indian classical dances and Tamil plays.
