Music Lovers Association is releasing a set of audio CDs containing Hindustani classical compositions sung by Nalini Kingi, on 17th January, at Kala Subbarao Kala Vedika, the mini-hall of Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha in Chikkadpally. On this occasion, Nalini Kingi will sing some Hindustani verses.
Nalini will start the recital with a Raag Maarubehag, followed by Vilambhit and Nritt, Raag Puriya in Ashtarupak Taal, a composition in Teen Taal, Raag Mala in Ardha Teen Taal, a Saawan Ki Kajri, and a Raag Bhairavi followed by Tarana. Nalini will be accompanied by Satish Kingi on the tabla and Rahul Deshpande on the harmonium.
Born into a music-loving family, Nalini Kingi started pursuing music at a tender age of 7. She is the disciple of Shyam Dadpe and Late Dr. N K Karhade, eminent music maestros of Hyderabad. She has done her M A in music, and also submitted her thesis for Ph D from Akhil Bharatiya Gandharwa Maha Vidhyala Mandal, Mumbai.
A regular performer in AIR and Doordarshan, she has also participated in many music concerts in India, such as Kundgol (Sawai Gandharwa Punyatithi Samaaroh), Bangalore, Ahmedabad, Baroda, Bidar, Bombay, Ambad, Nizamabad, Jabalpur and Amalapuram.
Nalini has about 14 audio CDs to her credit, including Morning Ragas, Evening Ragas, Midnight Ragas, Nirguni Bhajans, Maata Bhajans, Dasaravani (Kannada), Bhava Suman (Marathi), Hori, Kajri, Dadra and Thumri. She aspires to bring out recordings of as many varieties as possible in Hindustani classical, particularly ragas of different emotions, moods and timings to regale music lovers of varied likings.
