The priest reads Him hymns, the hunter feeds Him meat and the king bathes Him in gold. Each does what he is best at for His God, and here's Chandrahas doing what is his forte for the man who's making his career.
Chandrahas, a folk singer, founded the Kokila Cultural Association in 1989 with an intention to organize cultural programs and perform social service. He received an award from Mother Theresa in 1995 and a DWCRA award from the Chief Minister N Chandra Babu Naidu in 1999 for his skill in singing folk songs.
Chandra got a break in acting in the movie Bachelors, directed by Sana Yadi Reddy. He has since had an opportunity to act in two more movies, 'Youth' and 'Chandu', directed by the same director and due for release shortly.
To show his respect for his mentor-cum-director, Chandrahas is organizing a music competition through the Kokila Cultural Association on the 24th of July at 10am at the Sri Thyagaraja Gana Sabha. Participants will have to sing songs from Sampangi. The finalists will have to take part in the final program today and compete for the first and second positions. This evening, Chandrahas will felicitate the director and also the crew of Sampangi, Deepak, Kanchi Kaul, Ranganath, Chalapathi Rao, Shivaji Raja and others.
To entertain the audience, Viswavinootna (the daughter of the city's popular magician C V Ramana) will present a magic show, which will be followed by a mimicry program by Babu Rao, a parody by Guruswamy and a female singer imitation show by Venkateshwarulu. The winners of the singing competition be given shields in the end.
