The list of luminaries who did not feature in the Telugu Chalanachitra Vajrotsavalu reads like the who's who of Tollywood. Here's another name getting its just due.
Yuvakalavahini is felicitating Dr Vaddepally Krishna, on the eve of his completion of 25 years in Telugu cinema, on 18th May, at Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha. Dr Vaddepally Krishna is a songwriter in the film industry. Mabbula Pallaki, a book written by Dr Krishna, will be released by the special guest, Padmabhushan and Gnanpeeth awardee Dr C Narayana Reddy, and Dr Krishna will be felicitated by the chief guest D Srinivas, A P minister for higher education.
The other invited guests for the evening are movie dialogue-writer Dr Parachuri Gopalakrishna, Telugu University Vice-Chancellor Dr A Manjulatha, directors A M Rathnam and K Raghavendra Rao, actors Ranganath and Naresh, actor and writer Raavi Kondala Rao, director and poet Jonnavithula Ramalingeswara Rao, writer J K Bharavi, music director Madhavapeddi Suresh, Assistant Editor of Andhra Prabha P Vijayababu, and program officer of Akashvani Dr V V Rama Rao.
Dr Vaddepalli Krishna stepped into the tinsel world as a songwriter in 1982 with the films Rachayithri and Pilla Zamindar. Since then, he has written songs for many films like Peddarikam, Bhairavadweepam, Leader, Andaru Andare, Sankalpam and Gudachari No. 1, and directed a film called Ekkadikeltundo Manasu.
He has 12 books and 27 cassettes to his credit. He was awarded a doctorate for his research in light music in Telugu, and is the first to attempt this. The American Telugu Association of Chicago conferred upon him the Lalithasri Award. He is currently a member of the Central Board Of Film Censors.
On this occasion, a musical nite on songs written by Dr Krishna will be staged by Amani, Udayabindu, K Venkat Rao and Subash.
