Sangeeta Ksheerasagaram, as part of its monthly program of Carnatic classical music, is presenting a Carnatic vocal recital by Jayanthi Vaidyanathan from Hyderabad, on 13th January, at Kala Subbarao Kala Vedika, the mini hall of Sri Thyagaraya Gana Sabha in Chikkadpally. Jayanthi will be accompanied by Venkatesh for vocal support, Komanduri Anantha Shouri Rajan on the violin and P Vidyasagar on the mridangam.
Jayanthi Vaidyanathan hails from a family of musicians and scholars. Her father late Dr. B Vaidyanathan was an eminent Vedic scholar and a Carnatic vocalist, and her grandfather Balakrishna Bhagavathar was a renowned Harikatha artiste and veena vidhwan. Jayanthi then naturally learnt music under her father, and has given several concerts in Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.
Formed in 2002 by a senior vocalist V Ananda Mohan, Sangeeta Ksheerasagaram has been organizing classical music shows in memory of Late Uppalapati Ankaiah. As a tribute to the legend, it promotes upcoming and established artists by inviting them to perform in these concerts.
